Forget Everything You Think You Know About Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea in Glasgow has long been associated with finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, clotted cream and a pot of Earl Grey. But what if you could experience this much-loved tradition with the bold flavours, spices and street food of India?
At The Dhabba in Merchant City, we have reimagined afternoon tea through the lens of Indian cuisine.
Our Indian Afternoon High Tea in Glasgow brings together a selection of vibrant Indian street food, savoury favourites and traditional Indian desserts in a beautifully curated experience.
Available every day between 2pm and 5pm, it is an opportunity to discover a different side of Indian food while enjoying an afternoon with friends, family or colleagues.
What to Expect from Indian Afternoon High Tea at The Dhabba
Our Indian Afternoon High Tea takes inspiration from the street food traditions of India, bringing together different flavours and dishes in one experience.
Gol Gappa
The experience begins with Gol Gappa, crispy puffed breads filled with spiced potato and chickpeas and served with sweet and spicy water.
A much-loved Indian street food favourite, Gol Gappa delivers a combination of crunch, spice and refreshing flavours in every bite.
Vada Pav
Next comes Vada Pav, one of Mumbai’s iconic street food dishes.
A spiced potato fritter is served inside a soft bun with chutneys and fried green chilli, creating a simple but incredibly flavourful Indian snack.
Hariyali Mokal
Our Hariyali Mokal brings a lighter and more fragrant element to the experience.
This chicken pakora is flavoured with basil and mint, combining aromatic herbs with the crisp texture of freshly prepared pakora.
Gosht Kathi
For something more substantial, Gosht Kathi features pulled lamb and diced peppers wrapped in roomali roti.
It is another example of how our Indian Afternoon High Tea brings together different flavours and traditions from across India.
Finish with Traditional Indian Desserts
No afternoon tea would be complete without something sweet.
At The Dhabba, the experience finishes with a selection of Indian-inspired treats, including Homemade Kulfi, Gulab Jamun and our Choco Mini Cake.
Homemade Kulfi
Kulfi is a traditional Indian frozen dessert known for its rich, creamy texture and authentic flavours.
Our Homemade Kulfi provides a refreshing finish to the savoury dishes served earlier in the experience.
Gulab Jamun
Soft reduced-milk dumplings soaked in sweet syrup, Gulab Jamun is one of India’s most recognisable desserts.
Warm, comforting and indulgent, it is a fitting way to finish an Indian afternoon tea.
Choco Mini Cake
We also include a Choco Mini Cake for a final touch of indulgence.
Because even a traditional afternoon tea deserves something a little extra.
